yea so recenty i been having some funny some stuff happen everytime plugged in my usb drive. what really gave it away is that some script error concerning "autorun.vbs" showed up. now recently my school computer labs had usb virus going around and i think i just caught it.

it's probably in my harddrive now but idk how it is. so i just have a few questions.

    1) i know that autorun.vbs is in my usb flash drive, so if i reformat my flash drive, would it get rid of it?

    2) so if my harddrive is infected too and if i reformat my hardrive it would be gone right?

    3) but before i reformat my hd, i need to back up my documents and to do so i want to plug in my usb external drive which is 1tb. now is this risky? would trying to back up my info to my external hard drive via usb also infect my external hard drive? you got any advice on this?

    4) another problem is that my hardrive is dual booted with xp and linux. so if the autorun. vbs is in my hardrive while im using xp, does it mean that linux is also infected? ALSO if i just reformat the xp partition, would the linux drive still be infected? should i reformat both?

    please help.

The virus will definitely spread to every HD you have basically.
You USB Flash Drives will be infected too.
Before doing the backup, you need to destroy the virus because the virus can go to the your 1TB HD.
Reformat of HD can kill the virus definitely.
I would like to suggest you to download these software, just google them, I will give you the list.
    SUPERAntispyware(install and update then scan)
Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware(instal,l update and then scan)
SpywareBlaster(install and update then enable all protection)
Avira Antivir Personal 9(install and update then scan)

Turn on your Windows Firewall and Windows Defender.
