    Like he said ;)
And if you're searching for a good firewall, I would recommend Comodo Firewall which is light on resources too.

I have just started using the AVIRA antivirus. It's a free download and you have the option of purchasing the full version. It updates automatically itself and seems ok to me.

Not sure if the same kind of anti virus work for both laptops and netbooks though?
    shouldn't really matter though.

    hope this helps

or just use the windows firewall, which uses.. 0 resources, as it's integrated directly into the network stack. and as it's the firewall used worldwide on millions of systems and thousands of servers, it should be good enough for the ordinary user.

other than that, avast antivirus would be an option, or no antivirus at all, depending on the usage habbits, a weekly scan might be enough, realtime not needed. but that depends on the user, of course.

Agreed, for a netbook I would not tax the system with any additional resource-hogging firewalls, just leave Windows firewall turned on.

I'm lookinf for a firewall and an antivirus that don't slow too much the booting.
Currently I've Zone Alarm and Pandacloud but the access is very slow and the icons need several seconds to be displayed on the screen after I logged in.

read the posts above. If you have Vista, leave the Windows Firewall on. as for AV, use the free Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE).

I agree with Avira and Spywareblaster but I would leave off ZoneAlarm on a netbook unless you want your system slowed down.
