I'm on a G2S-A1, and avast! has worked beautifully until recently, avast! has stopped the booting of my computer. Whenever I try to boot, Windows "loads" and I get this blank screen with a mouse; nothing else. I went into safe mode, and uninstalled avast! and all of a sudden Windows boots up fine. I know avast! is the problem, or something is clashing with it. I've isolated that variable, but now I cannot seem to find a solution to the problem. I'm afraid to surf the web without antivirus installed. Please help me. :D

check the option in the options menu that says "Load AVAST after system services" or something along those lines, and make sure it is checked

Make sure you don't have two anti-virus software both loading at system startup. There will be problems due to complications with data mining. If you have something as ZA security suite, Norton 360, or something along those lines, then you already have anti-virus.

I tried that system services thing and it didn't work. And I only have avast! running, so the problem is not there.

Windows doesn't even reach the desktop; once it gets past the loading bars for Windows, the screen just blanks out, and the mouse shows up.

It's always worked for me fine until a few days ago. I'm not quite sure what's going on. And I'm pretty much deadset on avast! since I've heard bad things about AVG's virus detection ability.
