I've been using Norton Antivirus 2009 (Gaming Edition) for a few months, and I can say I've very impressed by it. I've never had to tinker excessively with a bunch of settings, and yet it has kept my computer malware free - in fact, it detected two pieces of malware that NOD32 missed. It also uses fewer resources than any antivirus program I've ever used in the past.

In short, I would highly recommend it. :)

Norton 2009 is very good, it'll use less resources than Norton 08. Norton Internet Security does protect your whole machine with a firewall, antivirus/antispyware, and anti spam.

As long as you get Norton Internet Security, then yes. Symantec also sells just Norton Antivirus with anti-spyware that doesn't include a firewall.

Yep, i'd finish your 60 Trial if it's not expired then, when it's time to renew, go online to Symantec's website and get Norton Internet Security 2009

All Norton products require a yearly subscription renewal, so Norton 360 will also cost you again in a years time.

I have tried Norton, Kaspersky, ESET, AVG, Avira and Avast.. I think it's a personal choice, all depends on the person using the computer.

I ended up getting ESET NOD32 for my laptop and Avira (free) for the desktop. No complaints so far.. Been almost a year.

Certain stores (Fry's Electronics, for one) offer programs where only the first purchase of a certain antivirus costs you (and even then, it's usually not full price due to tons of rebates), and then yearly updated versions cost you nothing (except tax) with an upgrade rebate and instant manufacturer rebate.

Not all manufacturers or store offer this, and I've only seen it for Norton and McAfee products, and to some extent, Kaspersky (Kaspersky still makes you pay some $10-20 per year even after upgrade rebate).
