Use firefox as your browser and use the adblock plus extension

Microsoft has an extension for IE called adblock pro. Personally I don't think it works as well as the one in firefox but you can try it. I'll have to search to find it.

Firefox and its addons are free. You can have both IE and firefox on the computer at the same time without any problem. Many, many people on this forum use it. Perhaps even most people here. Give it a try. I really don't think you will regret it. You can switch between browsers very easily, just one keystroke after you set it up.

I googled adblock pro and found many download sites, looks like it is $20 after the trial period now.

    Just thinking.

You wouldn't have any malware on your computer responsible for this?

Else, a good Internet Security suite generally helps.

If the ads come up even when you're not browsing, you have a malware infection. It's important to get rid of the malware (not just block the ads). Personally, I'd reinstall the OS if that were happening on my system... but if you don't want to do that then at least run an antispyware program like MBAM or SAS as AKAJohnDoe recommended.

I had this happen to me when I was trying to open up Imageshack via IE.

With the help of the awesome members here on the forum...I downloaded SAS, removed Trend Mico and installed Avira AV, and stopped using IE to try and open up Imageshack.

Now, all is good. I try not and use IE anymore (dancing with the devil) :D

Lately, it's just been FF that I open up with. And, when I open Imageshack in FF...I don't get the adware dancing all over my screen ;)

    Cin ;) :)

You've got a malware infection; even under IE this wouldn't be happening with such frequency (unless you had decided to intentionally visit all and only websites with pop-up ads :D).
