it's been told in ThreatFire AntiVirus - Behavioral Virus and Spyware Protection that they could provide a software that could helps any other antivirus softwares improves its detection rate. while ThreatFire AntiVirus Free Edition - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com describe that ThreatFire is just another antivirus software

so basically ThreatFire AntiVirus - Behavioral Virus and Spyware Protection said that their software must be running in the background while another antivirus software is also running to have an improved detection rate. This sounds funny to me remembering numerous forums and experts keep telling me not to use more than 1 antivirus softwares to prevent crash and malfunction on my PC.

can anyone tell me how does the ThreatFire actually works?

ThreatFire is not an AV (as in signature reliant) despite the ill-chosen name.
It's a 'Behavioural blocker' and complements/works besides your current AV.
As PCTools (Symantec) writes; ' ...By implementing sophisticated real-time behavioral analysis ThreatFire is able to stop never- before-seen "zero-day" threats solely by detecting their malicious activity.' link.
Using the standard settings, it's fairly user friendly. Using maximum settings, it turns into a strict 'HIPS' requiring much more user input.

Most recent version v4.7.0.48 is available on this PCTools forum page.
