Well would it slow my pc down if I kept windows defender and norton 360 on at the same time? or should I just keep one on and the other off?

I don't know about Norton 360, but when I used to have WD and NIS 2010 together, there wasn't any slowdown of any sort' just because of those two being turned on.

Windows Defender is useless when you have an Antivirus or something. You can turn it off safety.
When you install MSSE(Microsoft Security Essentials), it will have WD turned off after the installation. This prove that WD is not important at all.
Moreover, did you spot anything WD detects? I suppose NONE right? It's pointless and waste your resources only. :)
