Hi. Yesterday I started installing a program but I realised that it was spam so I stoped the instalation and deleted the file but the laptop restarted. Now I can't open Norton 360 to see if I have a virus and I can't open Windows in safe mode.
Please help me fix my laptop. Thank you.

Why can't you logion in to safe mode?

What method are you using? f8 or msconfig?

    What program was "spam"

When I restart the laptop I press F8 and it shows the options (safe mode, normal mode, etc), I select safe mode and it starts running and then shows the options again.
It was a stupid program for personal productivity I was trying but I also had another installed so I don't know which one did it. I doesn't really matter which one did it.

Use System Restore to return to an earlier restore point.

Strange that Safe Mode won't work...I was going to suggest something, but I worry you might end up in an eternal loop

    Hi Summertime,

This is Mike from the Norton Authorized Support Team.

Norton 360 version 2 does not operate in Windows Safe Mode. However, I would advise you to use the free Norton Security Scanner to check for infections first, which you can download from the link below.

    Norton Security Scanner

After the Norton Security Scan is complete, try opening Norton 360 by going to Start->All Programs->Norton 360 and see if you can launch the application.

If you are then able to open Norton 360, click on the "PC Security" bubble and then choose "Check for Updates" to make sure you have the latest program and definition updates applied.

If you still are unable to launch Norton 360 version 2, let me know, and I will provide you with the correct procedure to uninstall and reinstall the application.

    Thank you,
    Mike
