I just noticed the last couple of days that Windows Defender has turned off. For sure, I didn't turn it off or disable it.

in services.msc, it is set to 'automatic' and it' set to start with the system in msconfig too.

I tried starting manually, but in a few second it turns itself off..

    What is happening? :(

    Update:

Was googling and found that apparently, some third party AV' or ASW' can turn off Windows Defender.... I currently have just NIS 2010.. and some on-demand ASW scanners... could this be due to NIS 2010? and is it ok to leave it off? Or if its better to have WD on along with NIS 2010, then how to do it?

    Many thanks, in advance.

Edit: Ah.. just saw this > http://community.norton.com/norton/board/message?board.id=nis_feedback&message.id=74777

You don't need WD when you have NIS 2010.

are you using Microsoft Security Essentials because if you do, it disables Windows Defender because it shares some of the same things as windows defender

It seems WD is a quite awful security tool. I have it turned on. But I didn't notice it detects anything before.
Moreover, it wasted me 3.8MB of RAM usage. LOL.
NIS 2010 is great! No worry with WD disabled if you're using NIS 2010.
