    Win32/HackAV.G virus?

    Nod32 recently identified one of my files (which ironically is a "patch" for Nod32 itself) as being a Win32/HackAV.G virus during a in-depth scan. I was just wondering if this would be a false-positive since when I scanned the file with Norton, Kaspersky, and AVG, nothing came up.

    anyone? After spending hours googling, I still can't find a answer as to what exactly HackAV.G is.

    I found that page too, but it doesn't exactly tell me what does the virus do. Anyways, I did another indepth scan and nothing came up, but just to me sure, I'm do a reformat tonight

    hi hi...

    i got the exact same issue but in reverse order.
    the first in-depth scan actually went negative, meaning no viruses found.
    for fun, i ran the 2nd, followed by the 3rd scans, one after another, and the program found the "Win32/HackAV.G" under my "C:\Program Files\ESET\nod32fix.reg"

    action taken: "leave"

    i cant find further info about this.
    anybody got any feedbacks or inputs or advice?

    The nod32 patch you are referring to is not an official ESET patch but rather a NOD32 crack allowing virus definition updates without the need to pay for a license. NOD32 started to recognize this patch (crack) as a virus, but there in no harm coming from that file, other than making your NOD32 copy an 'illegal' one.
