Win32/CIH and Window's Vista

So I just acquired a not so legitimate DVD from the local nationals down here, which contained a bunch of older games put onto one disc. Well one of the games contained "Win32/CIH" aka. Chernobyl.

This is a very old virus, but used to cause a lot of damage. I've read that it won't operate on windows 2000 or NT. It's said to only affect 32 bit operating systems, but I'm currently running 32 bit Vista on this pos laptop I've got(not the one in my sig). I deleted the virus, but still want to play the other games. Should I worry about this virus popping up again and doing some damage, or is it harmless on my current OS.

 

While CIH only runs on FAT-32, I think it might be wise to scan the entire DVD for malware.
Make sure to set a proper depth scan setting for files that have been rarred, residing in other files that have been rarred etc.
Like you wrote yourself, it's "a not so legitimate DVD" so it can hold more surprises than you'd like.
Make sure to have a backup.
It's only a thin line between bravery and bravado.

well the cd contained 8 games, the first 6 were emulated (snes), so i can run them straight off the disc without installing anything, no problem there. The 7th game had the virus, and the 8th installed and ran without any problem.
