Why would I need a firewall other than Windows Firewall?

Have you tried running a search? There's a number of threads on the subject. I know I wrote one up awhile ago.

I’m no expert, but I think Windows firewall is good enough, especially if you are behind a router. A 3rd party firewall will give you more control and detailed reports on your network activities.

right just wanted to confirm that. I hate the way the other software firewalls ask u about every freakin' connection to allow or not it becomes too much

If you need more control over Windows Firewall, use the Windows Firewall with Advanced Security option.

Works great for me and does everything I want.

Anybody curious, you can find it under Administrative Tools. Allows you to control outbound connections.

An enhancement to Windows Firewall that easily allows you to allow or deny outgoing/incoming internet requests by program is Vista Firewall Control (free). I highly recommend it.

Controlling outbound connections is still much different than detecting them in real-time.
