What would you say it is? It doesn't matter how much it is, just the best one thats only for viruses ONLY and not for spyware, adware.. etc.

I'm using Avast free now and its ok but i'm sure there is better ones.
Can you post advantages and disadvantages. e.g "Slows down your pc" or "very light"

I don't trust websites such as http://anti-virus-software-review.toptenreviews.com/ because the best programme changes on each website.

    Thanks :)

    Norton Antivirus 2009. ;)

Norton Internet Security 2009 is good as well, but does spyware too. i dont think regular NAV does.

Anyway, Why dont you want it to scan for Spyware?
    AFAIK, most do.

I just meant i'm not too bothered if it does spyware. I already have Ad aware and am very happy with that.

I also heard that Norton slows your computer down.

the best are kaspersky, nod32, and norton 2009

all 3 are excellent, but i believe that the overall best is nod32

from what i've experienced, ad-aware does not catch anything.. i might have caught 3 things the entire time that i've been using it from ~2003-2006 (however, i have not tried ad-aware 2009). ad-aware used to be good back ~2000 (caught a bunch of stuff for me), but they went downhill from there once they started to slack on their definitions.. and take on firewall, etc. it would often miss stuff picked up by spybot or spyware doctor.. the best antispyware would probably be a combination of spybot, spysweeper, spyware doctor.. and a couple others with spyware doctor having the highest detection rates (and probably highest false positives too.. maybe they've improved though, i haven't used spyware doctor for a long time) because with firefox + nod32 + spybot&spywareblaster's passive protection, i never get anything.. i remember not scanning my computer for almost 2 years and when i did.. i still had nothing

and norton used to slow down computers a LOT, but they FINALLY changed that with their new 2009 version and now it's right up there competing with the best. it seems that their definitions and false positive rates have gotten MUCH better too, beating kaspersky and nod32 in certain areas

Yep. That pretty much sums it all up. Just get whichever one of the three that has the best price at the time and run with it. I would recommend getting the security suite versions as they generally are cheaper than the AV-only version and include 3 licenses.

Heard good things about this one. I was going to download it but since norton 2009 and others are a more popular option on this thread.. I may aswell go with that one

Tbh, you should stick with Avira or any other free anti-virus. They're well equipped for what they do. Considering those paid antiviruses have DRM protection too I'd stay away from them lol :p

The extra protection Norton or nod32 gives IMO isn't needed if you're a conscious computer user(then again, one can argue most security software isn't needed in this case...anyways). Besides, if there was such a huge thing that it'd attack to the level where you'd need that much protection, chances are that protection might not be enough lol :p
