This search engine has hijacked my pc, set itself as startpage on both firefox and chrome. Complete reinstall of the two browsers did nothing. Now I'm worried that my pc is infected with more than a useless search engine as a start page. AVG antivirus and spybot S&D did not kill it.
Anyone know anything about it or any software that might kill it - whatever it is?

In my experience AVG has been complete crap. Go get a trial version of Norton or (free) Microsoft Security Essentials and see what those can do. Those have worked well for me in the past.

I'd run Malwarebytes : Free anti-malware download as a starting point.

In Firefox, about:config is your friend.

Try downloading Immunet or any other antivirus program in safe mode and run scan. It will help you get rid of your problem.
Following is the link of Immunet free download (since it is light and fast AV) try it otherwise I will suggest you any other AV's url
