After running Spybot S&D I get 2 warnings. After reading the report, I see that there are 2 files that cannot be opened. They are:

    Begin scan in 'C:\'
    C:\hiberfil.sys
[WARNING] The file could not be opened!
    C:\pagefile.sys
[WARNING] The file could not be opened!

I am a Noob, so I had to google them - and I get 2 scenarios - one is that they are normal files and several other links say they are related to spyware. Any input is appreciated....thanks!

pagefile.sys is the system file used by Windows to write chunks of memory to disk as required. Think of it as a hard-drive-based way of "underwriting" the applications' (and the OS's) requests for memory.

hiberfil.sys is a file used to capture the state of the operating system and any applications running at the time the user requests the system to go into hibernation mode.

Both of these files are normal and their presence is not indicative of a problem.

Put them into an exclude list or just ignore them yourself.

hiberfil.sys is where your current system state is preserved when your PC goes into hibernation.

pagefile.sys is the file the OS uses to back real memory with virtual memory, much like the old DOS swap file.

The most certainly are not spyware.
