I have XP 64bit and I am really stumped on the choice of antivirus. Here is why:

    ESS4
I used to use ESS4 but it has been notoriously defeated by every other common virus found on emule (last case - yesterday). Is the old Nod32 2.7 (or something similar) still useful today?

    Avira
It's policy of falsepositives is annoying. Besides, on XP64 I am only able to install version 9. 10 will not install and 9 will not run Guard module.

    MSE
    Does not support xp64! Ridiculous!

Avast - far from being as good as, say, Avira.
Kaspersky - I hear it is way too heavy.
    Panda Cloud - won't install on xp64.

I also wonder your opinions on Trustport and G Data.
    Any suggestions will be appreciated.

You could try the free comodo internet security , it says it`s xp 64 compatible.

Or try AVG , though i dont know if it`s xp 64 compatible.

    Download Comodo Internet Security

Far from Avira as in what exactly? Detection rate, I/O load, CPU load?

    I can wholehartedly recommend Avast.
I'm using it now on pretty old hardware; an IBM R51 with a (Dothan) PentiumM 1,6GHz processor. No problem.

As far as detection rate and system load, Avast is pretty light and it's detection rate isn't that far below Avira's.
Give it a try, I'd say
