    I had it with Kaspersky
I asked for suport in Their Forums how to install Firewall with kaspersky

Instead I was asked to Install Service pack 2 on Vista
Service pack 1 had give me problems before on Pc
SP2 didnt show up in windows update so i was asked to Install IE8 first
When i refused (i dont like IE8 yet) my thread was Closed and i was told that I repeated myself (I told them several times i dont Want IE8 but they keep saying i had to install it) then they told me I refused to follow instruction so they couldnt help me

I then posted in the Spanish section of kaspersky Forum since i decided i wanted to get the help in spanish instead
Then I was asked what i Was doing They refuse me now to post in spanish forum but post in english forum instead (even i live in spain)
I was then told i was the most dificult person they had handled with :(
This is My experience with Kaspersky suport
(I found out kaspersky forum is not official suport but come on i hosted on kasersky website )

Anyway Microsoft Helped me out for free and got Service Pack 2 installed

Problem Now is Everytime i Right-click context menu to scan a file
    Explorer.exe Crashes

    Other problems I have:
When Having Logitech wheel conected and using VLC video my ANtivirus Flashes and move by itself
and sometimes the mouse pointer also move byitself in explorer too
disconecting mouse dindt help but closing VLC video player and unplugging logitech wheel did.

I Called Kaspersky And Now find out they charged me about 20 euro for the call (seem to be a expensive number)

After some talk on the phone i was asked to send email

for some days Kaspersky atempted to help me over email
I was told the reason of Explorer.exe crashing was that I had Defender and windows firewall activated when i disabled them problem was still there

Then i was asked to Burn a CD with KAV rescue
I did and it started up in sort of linux but after 4 minuts something stopped the Scan

I sent email to kaspersky of what to do next
But have since not recived an answer what to do

I Just HAD IT with kaspersky
I have NEVER IN MY LIFE seen such a terrible suport for a antivirus product

And this guys we are supose to trust when we run into viruses?

So I decided to change antivirus soon

I though about Trend Micro or Norton
    Which is best?

Trend micro is only avaible to buy online but norton i can get in nearby shop

When i Called Trend micro (fortunaly not expensive number)
The first thing they did was to put me on hold for 2 minuts
but after they answered all my question

This make me think maybe there is few people working for suport in Trend micro in spain not sure if this can be a problem
suport can be sent to them by email

Then Norton they have a Live CHAT with suport this is just great
I quickly got an custumber agent that answered all my questions
He said i can also get suport by mail or calling a non-expensive number
(Both the Norton number and Trend-micro is for me FREE to call because of the contract i have with my phone company, but Kaspersky use a expensive number that cost me a lot to call)

Judging only by this I think i am better off moving away by Kaserspky

First because I have had a bad experience with suport on their forum
and next because the phone line suport is so expensive

Problem is my Antivirus license still last for 11 month more
but i realy dont care the way they threat custumbers are a shame

So what should i go for
    Trend Micro or Norton ?

    Questions:

1 . Is Norton 2009 30 % faster as they promised it would be?
Previous norton has all been so slow and heavy

    2. Do Trend micro Catch as many viruses as Norton does

    3. Do Both Norton antivirus and Trend micro standard antivirus
Scan and repair Rootkits and Keyloggers
I was told by Norton suport that All Norton products does that
(i dont think kaspersky normal antivirus does this)

    4. Is Norton Antivirus and Trend micro compatible with Zonealarm or Outpost firewall.
All Antivirus companies Kaspersky, trend micro, Norton etc..
Tell me the same DONT install Firwall get Security products from us instead
    Pure marketing maybe?
But they also say it can create problems
But if so then Zonealarm and Outpost should be bankrupty by now

    Why are they doing this?
I am one of those that like to have Antivirus and Firewall in 2 programs

For now i am only using Windows firewall because of the problems i having with kaspersky

Kaspersky even said that the first thing they will do everytime they give suport is ask you to uninstall firewalls

    1. Norton 2009 (and 2010) products, NAV and the full suite NIS, have been completely rewritten and both are very fast, very light on resources and offer excellent protection.

    2. No, check scores yourself here and here.

    3. Current AV's like from Norton and TrendMicro, all detect viri, spyware, worms, trojans, rootkits etc.
(The naming convention oughtta be changed from anti-virus to anti-malware).
None of them detect everything though, usually only between 80-99%, and therefore can't always repair everything.

    4. It's mainly marketing indeed.
While some programs might conflict in certain combinations, AV's ought to work flawless besides other firewalls.
The AV's and firewalls in the free security programs thread, don't cause any conflicts.
    Cheers.

Thanks, seem that as for free antivirus goes everyone have the one they prefer.

Of the free Avira,Avast, AVG which one does Outpost firewall work best with
of the paid Norton and Trend micro which does outpost work best with?

I doubt anyone here on NBR has tested all these combinations, maybe check the Outpost forum?
Afaik none of the free AV's conflict with Outpost.

I use NOD32 since 4 years, never had a virus or any problem. And it is the lightest on the system, you won't even feel you have an antivirus installed!

read some reviews about NOD32 dude

NIS is the lightest and fastest now. Totally re-designed.

Definitely go for NIS '09. ;)

Was running Avast and Outpost combo recently on another computer. Stable as a rock and I would highly recommend it. But i'm just not sure about Avast's detection rates. It hadn't picked up a single threat since I installed it a couple months ago but seemed to be scanning every file accessed. Hmmm... Maybe it's because I don't go on to dodgy websites. But I did accidentally click on a nasty link one time but closed it immediately without Avast reacting in any way.

I love nearly everything about Avast including it's boot-time scanner but wish it's detection rates were as solid as other AV solutions (going on comparatives, reviews and opinions). That's the only thing I would love to see them improve upon. Avira is slightly better in this regard. Some paid for solutions even more so producing significantly less false-positives. Avast also doesn't update it's virus definitions as often as paid-for ones either. Maybe once a day, whereas NIS 09 would update every few minutes.

Out of the ones you would pay for I can only recommend NOD32 (used the trial version for awhile), Kaspersky, and Norton 09 (had NIS trial, worked flawlessly on XP). The older Norton use to come pre-installed on my computer, it was terribly slow. The newer version is a HUGE improvement I have to say.

Will try out Morro once it gets released officially. If you do decide to go with Norton, you might wanna find out when the 2010 version is released.

    According to Maximus, http://www.virusbtn.com/news/2008/03_13a.xml
I think Avira is the BEST FREE AV out there.(Crazy high score)
Additionally, NIS 09, Trend Micro and ESET NOD32 are basically strong and have high score.
