Hello. My computer is infected with a thing called Windows Accelerator Pro. It looks like an antivirus program, but I'm sure it's a virus, because I did not install it and I do not have any other antivirus protection on my PC. I thought I wouldn't need one, but I guess I was wrong. I tried to deal with this thing on my own and I searched for some help in Google. I found several removal guides and I did exactly as they said(mostly I followed those steps Windows Accelerator Pro Removal Guide). Now the hard part is to decide which antivirus program to download. They are so many.. how do I choose a good one, that is actually helping? Every removal guide ends with a suggestion, but how to tell if it is a good software? Can anyone recommend something? Thank you.

He implied that he removed 'Windows Accelerator Pro' but now needs a anti virus program. I can't believe that he didn't have one before but maybe he is a newbie to computers.

The best possible anti virus is common sense, things such as
    1) Don't download illegal stuff. Nothing in this world is free.
    2) Don't visit morally questionable video sites
    3) Don't click on pop up ads, don't sign up for stupid facebook games, and don't install 'toolbars' for your browser.

If you follow those 3 rules, you've avoided 95% of malware.

4)To eliminate a further 4%, try Microsoft Security Essentials, Avast, or Avira (all 3 are free). Malware Bytes is a good addition to any of those as well.

Only 100% way to avoid malware is to unplug from the internet.

Well, so much for reading the post fast, the title was a tad misleading as well. Anyways, the OP should still get Malwarebytes and as for AVs, I used to recommend MSE, but these days is isn't as good as it used to be. Better than nothing, but the OP could go with something like Avast! instead.
