I had that virus on my system, and now it's gone! When I first noticed something was up, it was when
I started my PC and it said a driver was missing. Then when I tried to open my browser it redirected me to a website telling me the site I'm trying to access is "Malicious" and could harm my system. Then it opened up a fake scan that told me I have 30+ viruses on my computer. Obviously I knew it was spyware because a McAfee window popped up telling me a Trojan was removed. So, I did a superantispyware scan. I put it on critical mode too. The scan came up with a couple of major virus it found. I also followed the instructions at this website---> Remove Win 7 Antispyware 2012 and Vista Antivirus 2012 name changing rogue (Uninstall Guide). That didn't do anything really. So when I restarted my computer today the virus was gone. No redirection, no window opening up telling me that Google.com is "Malicious." I can tell it is running in the back-round. It turned off my Firewall using windows settings. Now when I go to security essentials it says turn on. Before I could see my firewall, and that McAfee was working. Now I cant. I can start up extensions know like games, ETC. So what happened? Why did it just disappear. After the Superantispyware scan, I was still infected, just in-case you didn't catch that before. How do I stop it from running in the background? Over the past four months my computer has been acting strange. For example taking almost 15 minutes to boot up, lagging a lot, crashing programs, ETC.

The long boot times could be attributed to a potential HDD failure and not necessarily a virus issue (though the latter cannot be discarded given your recent issues).
I would advise you make a backup of your relevant files just in case.

Furthermore, I would advise against using McAfee (in fact, I'd recommend you remove it NOW).
That thing is a virus onto itself for the most part and a rather problematic resource hog.

I would recommend you to consider using 1 of the following free antivirus programs (all work just as good as paid ones and don't slow the system down):

Avira free, Avast Free, MSE (Microsoft security Essentials), Panda Cloud free.
Remember only download/install just 1 of them.

As for your recent infection issue...
Have you tried running your AV and SAS scan in Safe mode?
Quite often, various programs cannot find certain infections if the OS is being run in administrator mode.

Aside from those aspects... what you can also do in order to speed your laptop up is to remove unnecessary software and bloat.
If your machine came with pre-installed Windows and loads of programs starting up, I suggest removing all of it (sans the drivers of course).
Also use ccleaner free to check startup entries and remove practically everything except the things you need at startup: such as AV and maybe google update if you use Chrome along with the touchPad driver - everything else should be expendable.

Finally, when was the last time you cleaned your laptop from dust?
It can easily build up over time in your system and reduce performance (among other things).

If all comes to worst... backup your relevant data and do a clean Windows install.
Depending on which Windows you are using right now, you can download them legally online with slipstreamed updates and just install the proper edition (Home Premium, etc) and activating it using your OEM key (which is compatible between x86 and x64).

Re-install your OS. Format your PC. Install Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes anti-malware. Make sure that there's no other AV or Anti-spy/malware installed other than that. In my own opinion, I think that it's better to do this than trying to cleanup your PC. It's highly possible to remove it without re-formatting but.. well.. you know

I can't believe that is has simply went from the PC. In my opinion, you should run a full system scan with updated anti-spyware. Besides, to disable this scam try changing PC time 6-7 days ahead and then reboot your machine.
