I know that my little brother's laptop currently is infected with a virus, but not mine. We're both using the same router for the internet... so, could his virus somehow spread to my laptop since we're using the same home network??

    Plzz help.

If network sharing is working on both computers, Yes. If not, No. If a virus hits the router, it will spread either way, but seeing as it only hit one computer you should be okay without sharing files on the network.

Take the infected NB off line and get rid of the virus. There is NO need to ignore it, and spreading it to others. There are plenty of free AV programs that can scan and remove them. The longer you wait the worst it gets, so tackle it ASAP.

Ok, my brother has Windows 7. I turned off network discovery, file and printer sharing, and public files. I turned it off for home and public.

    Should that do it?

Also, I understand that people may want to share files within their home, but I don't quite apprehend this for the public computers...?

That should do the trick. Viruses can spread from flash drives as well as hard drives, basically anything that contains data.
