    Virus and Permanent Hardware Damage

    Which virus that would cause permanent hardware damage to your machine? Perhaps damaging the BIOS, killing the hard drive permanently, killing the video card by installing malicious flash or killing any other component in your computer.

    Many could. I don't get the point of listing all of them. You could write a virus to to all of the above.

    If someone knows the exact hardware config of your computer they can make a virus that will destroy it. And yes this could be done on any operating system.

    Dangerous territory. Frightning really.

    All it would really take is a vindictive former employee of a large company like Acer, HP etc who helped write some of their pre installed "bloatware" to take advantage of the specified lappies weaknesses.

    Like pushing ALT+F10 on an Acer reinstalls the OS and drivers and makes it back to "factory default"

    Edit...I am reporting my own post and would like to see this thread closed.

    Don't want to give people ideas here....
