I was wondering if I wipe the drive, reformat, and reinstall the OS will it kill all the viruses/adware/spyware etc from the computer.

Like a biological virus it would need a host to live. So if I wipe and reformat it will get rid of any viruses, spy/adware etc I have picked up on my computer? Thanks

BTW, my computer was recently infected with low level threat viruses, spy/adware files. Its still a fresh install with all my stuff already backed up. So reinstallingeverything wont be a pain. Just wanted to see if it would wipe the drive indefinately of the viruses.

Yes, it will kill your virus, spyware, and adware. Just be careful that there is not malware in your files if you are restoring them after the reformat.

Ditto! it will give u a clean system, the only rare possibility if the virus is resident in your computer's BIOS, then you will have to clean it via an antivirus or wipe your BIOS as well.

It was pretty much a low level threat virus and adware. One of my friends went to a website and it installed some viruses. 76 infected files lol, .

So Im in the process of reformating and reinstalling the OS. Lucky for me it was recently cleaned so I dont have to reinstall much of the software already installed.

A small headache but I can at least know its a clean running system. Thanks again for the help.
