Hey guys, long time no see.

Well Im in some real trouble here....

My computer in the past 5 months has been hacked 3 times, I dont know how, or why. I need to get some good hack prevention software, but I dont know what I need to get (Price is no issue for me)

ALSO!!!! I need some GREAT, TOP OF THE LINE VIRUS PROTECTION! Currently I have virus protection/scan from PC- Cillin. Its great for the INternet Explorer cookies that I have to get on rare occasions. BUT now, my computer has been DRAGGING and just rediculasly slow because of Viruses that my current protector can not see. I want to get about 3 other programs that can also scan my computer.

I am also having a great deal of networking issues (Mainly internet speed decrease from 11,000Kb/s to 2,000Kb/s) and when I called my provider, they told me to type into command Prompt something that showed all programs that were sucking up bandwith. I had 76 things using my bandwith while I had nothing going (No internet brouser, no Limewire, no BitTorrent, no nothing). With this, my internet provider's representitive told me to go to a site that did a free virus scan (Cant think of the name) and it came up with OVER 300 VIRUSES!!! The only problem is that I can not purchase the software online, and it is only availibe in Sweden (Because of Pirate Bay maybe?)

So if ANYONE ANYONE ANYONE has any good suggestions, it would be greatly apreciated

AGAIN! PRICE IS NO ISSUE WITH ME!!!! I AM WILLING TO SPEND A MILLION DOLLERS TO KEEP MY COMPUTERS SAFE!

Edit: I also can not get onto any internet broser with my laptop. I am currently on the internet via my cell phone.

    1. Clean install
    2. Stop using bittorrent, stop using Limewire, stop downloading random crap, stop downloading porn, use any AV/AS and you're all set.

Even if your just looking at it on the internet, I wouldn't trust it.
The Vista Tweaks *may* or may not work.

    ^Yeah. lol

_I suggest Norton Internet Security. I have that now and for the past 3 years. Iv ehad it on Core 2 Duos and on Celerons, it doesnt slow either of the computers down at all as some reviews say it does. Ive compared them before and after Norton and there was a few seconds difference in boot time. Generally, it doesnt make a difference in speed either. Never had one virus.

All you have to do is say "Allow" once and it never asks you again. I know because I use Firefox and Norton.
    ---
Control+Alt+Delete.... Well, obviosly i gues that didnt work for you. Hmmm, do a search for it.

You should be able to get a cheap replacement Windows CD from your computer manufacture. They might charge you a nominal $10 fee for shipping or something. But like others said, a clean install is the best way to go for your situation.

Buy a cheap external case for your hard drive. You can get one for less than $20. Remove your drive, put it into the enclosure, and then take it to a friend's computer. Let your friend scan the drive with a good A/V program (like NOD32), a good anti-trojan scanner (like TrojanHunter), and various adware/spyware scanners (SB Search and Destroy, Adaware, etc). Once the drive is clean, reinstall it and install the above software and immediately do another full scan and repair. You also need to scan the registry and remove any unnecessary/foreign entries.

Even after all of that, your system still might be slow. Uninstall any unnecessary programs, examine the startup process (msconfig, services.msc) and disable any unnecessary processes.

Contact Dell and ask for a replacement disc. If your system came with one, they usually will send a replacement the next day. If not, then you should be able to buy Vista with your college discount (most universities offer Vista, Office, and other MS products at a very reduced price). If all else fails, you should talk to your university's tech support department - if you cry hard enough, they might hook you up with a Vista disk.

(My dog ate my homework? Really?)

I'll second that. If you need to use a computer right now or tomorrow and you're not up to doing what has been explained, find a computer to borrow. There is no magical fix for this problem.

Ship both of your computers to me (overnight shipping), along with $500,000US and I'll have them back to you the next day with any OS and software you want!

If both of your computers are THAT infected the only cure is a fresh install. Without a fresh install there is likely no way to recover the PC to a usable state. There will be just too many files and registry entries for the computer to operate effectively after removal.

If money is no object, and apparently it isn't if you're willing to spend a million... Just go buy 2 new computers and transfer your important files (after scanning). Purchase=20 minutes - File transfer=1 hour - A new working computer=Priceless!

    A couple options to try:
    - System Restore
    - Since you need your computer by tomorrow, and you don't have a Windows disc, you could install Linux instead.

There is no easy option. Obviously, something you are doing, or something you are not doing (like installing the right AV software), is the major problem here.

These OSes are too far gone to be recovered IMHO, and no tool or set of tools are going to fully clean the systems up.

If price is no issue, go to Best Buy tomorrow and pick up the cheapest laptop you can find. And go buy the latest version of Norton Internet Security 2008 (yes, I'm not kidding...the software works well).

After that, you use the laptop while you are waiting on install discs from Dell. We cannot just point you to a magic solution to download a fully legal Vista disc (as if you probably could download it given all the internet problems we seem to be having).

Dell can get you the recovery discs for one PC, and your other one you can get from here. Assuming you are using Vista. If you have XP, then you are going to have to purchase another copy if you don't have the discs...because MS never had a program for buying XP backup discs.

To enable task manager, open up notepad and save the following as "taskmanenable.reg" WITH the quotes (so it saves as .reg not .txt).

    1. Call Dell and get your disks
    2. Reinstall
    3. Install AVG Free
    4. Use Firefox + Adblock Plus
    5. Use a good firewall
    6. Be a cautious browser
    7. Enjoy!

You have to be more careful about the files you run than ever. You used to be able to avoid viruses by avoiding strange executable files, but more unexpected types of files get access to your system like presentations and some audio/video. If you have friends that send you junk mail with attached media, be careful. I got hit with this once. Just a tip for your new clean computer :)
