Anybody else have this problem? I just updated to the latest version with latest definitions and now, I can't start my Antivir Guard. I'm running Vista Home Premium 64bit btw.

I checked the Avira forums and it seems there are others that have the same problem.

Has anyone on NBR found a solution?

Vista Business SP2 64-bit, did the Avira Antivir update today... and Guard is running, and I haven't seen any problems.

The update did say though that you need to reboot after updating... did you reboot?

I didn't get an update today that needed a reboot.

I was offline during a scheduled update but just now a manual update downloaded 19 files without asking for a reboot. Think I'll reboot anyway.

    Hmm. Weird.

Yeah I did reboot. Let me do some more digging. I'll report back here to update.

I did a product update yesterday and it downloaded 18 files. After the update was installed Avira did not ask me to do restart but my Guard is still active so I'm assuming it updated successfully. I have noticed that definition file updates today have been excruciatingly slow, taking more than five minutes to scan and download a very small new definition file. I don't know if the slowness has to do with Avira's servers being overwhelmed or if the product update had anything to do with it.

I just realized, there was a product version update yday to 9.0.0.403.
Still didn't need to reboot though and my guard is still enabled.
