Do you guys turn off the windows firewall when you install a 3rd party one (Jetico, Online Armor, Comodo, etc.)?

Yes. Only one firewall at a time.

Usually, the new firewall will shut if off for you.

Windows will also tell you that you should only have one firewall when you install another one.

I turned it off and stoped it from starting completely in the services.

Yes me too, running two firewalls isn't recommended.

Yeah, Windows automatically made my 3rd party firewall the default firewall once I installed it.

Yep, both Kerio and ZoneAlarm are two I've used that disable the Windows Firewall automatically. I think Norton does as well......

I have NOD32, Threatfire, and Commodo. I keep shutting off my windows firewall but something keeps turning it back on. Anyone have any ideas?

Turn if off completely. Go to run type services and then find Windows Firewall. Turn startup to Disabled then reboot. This will make it so Windows Firewall doesn't even boot up anymore.

Not sure. Everyone always say use only one at a time but no1 ever say why :)
So whoever say run only 1 next time explain why.

The best explanation is : in general use 1 firewall is enough, 2 or more could
    cause incompatibility or problems.
This doesn't mean only 1 can be run at ones.

I run some tests with multiple firewalls some with internal proxy server,
routed connections over virtual pc, max was 5 firewall on 1 line.

Atm. testing zonealarm pro and vista firewall at the same time with netlimiter pro.
Not detecting any problems, only a bit heavier on the cpu.

Some guys over at the Comodo forum say it's OK to run the Windows FW and CFP. I have from time to time (with XP) and haven't noticed any differences.

Having them both running slows down your internet connection. Especially when seeding/leeching on torrents.
