I am trying to install the new version of Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 on my system running Vista 64 bit Ultimate. When I try to install Kaspersky it tells me to uninstall AVG which I did a LONG time ago. So I reinstalled AVG8 and then uninstalled it...ran Kaspersky installation and it still reports that it is there!

I ran a registry cleaner just to make sure that all traces of the AVG8 antivirus program were gone and rebooted. Tried again to install Kaspersky and it still reports that is present...

What can I do to finally purge my system of AVG 8 Antivirus??

    Thanks!

Did you check through your restore points or your hidden restore partition? AVG may have been included in one of those restore points, and the uninstallation would not have removed it.

Go to regedit and try deleting all the AVG entries manually. Registry cleaners sometimes miss these things..
