Just read a review of ThreatFire, and I'm considering intalling it.

I'm wondering if anyone has tried it, and what their opinion of this program is... does it slow down your computer noticeably? Has it found threats?

I'm not seeing the "Search" link to search these threads, so appologies if this has been discussed.

I'd appreciate any feedback. I've installed programs in the past that have become a nuisance with numerous pop up warnings, while not actually finding any real threats, and I'd rather have some feedback before installing.

    Thanks!

I use it and it's pretty good. No noticeable slowdowns to report but be sure that you don't use it if your using Avast! antivirus. They conflict with each other.

As for searching the forums, you'll have to become a senior member (700 + Posts) before it will be accessible due to some issues with it. You can use Google site search to search the forums (I actually think it's a bit better) :)

at Google type -insert search term here- site:forum.notebookreview.com and your set! :)

As ThreatFire detects by analysing the behavior of a program, you may expect it to detect some safe program as a threat. For example, TF detects Digsby a high level threat.

TF is pretty small in resources. And you better choose one between TF and Comodo Defense+. If you are an advanced user, I think Defense+ is more suitable, but it can annoy some people due to lots of popups and asking...

I use TF/Comodo/NOD 32 and they all seem to work well together. No noticable slowdowns, and no malware!

ThreatFire is excellent. No, it won't bog down your system, at least it doesn't slow down my aging laptop.

I have been using threatfire and find that it works ok. No slow down noticed. have avast installed and running along side.

Note to BooBoo: I use threatfire with Avast and have no problems. Where did you see on the net or what problems with conflicts have you had.

Doesn't slow down my comp at all. Under processes, it uses 1,544K memory.

I'm using AVAST! + TF + Comodo Firewall. I remember having some conflicts when i installed comodo 1st then TF, or vice versa. Can't remember which. But, this can be easily solved by just uninstalling the 1st, and installing the 2nd one 1st. It's the sequence. Other than that, no conflicts.

And, TF likes to classify my safe software as high risky threats, which can be rather annoying. It hasn't caught anything yet though AVAST! has. Which makes me wonder whether it's necessary to keep it.

Downloaded and installed Threatfire as well as Comodo + Defense last night. Not connecting to the internet any more. Neither Firefox nor IE.

(I disconnected my wireless connection while uninstalling previous firewall and installing Comodo. After installation, it took a while to re-connect to the router but then no internet connection.)

Any ideas? Maybe I should uninstall TF tonight and see if that works. Is there a simpler solution, i.e. some program/utilty needs to be "allowed" in either TF or Comodo?

From my reading many here keep Defense+ off and have ThreatFire running.

That's what I do. I run Comodo (Defense+ OFF), ThreatFire, and Avira Antivirus and have no problems. I use a-squared as my on-demand scanner and Spybot S&D for its immunization feature.

Why do you want run into unnecessary trouble? Uninstall CF. Windows firewall is enough for most folks as inbound protection is the one which is very important. Installing too many apps will just contribute to resource hogging.
