PCTools (Symantec) have released their newest version of behavioural blocker ThreatFire 4.1.

The program offers 'proactive behavioral based protection'.
This means malware, spyware, rootkits etc. are detected by analysis of their expected behaviour, not by traditional signatures.
Scanning techniques have been improved in order to reduce popups requiring user input and to reduce false positives.
Rootkit scanning has also been improved. Their signature-based virus scanner has been removed because TF aims squarely at behavioural protection from now on.

It's still got very low memory usage, it offers very good protection combined with a decent AV, it requires almost no user input (for those who don't like a HIPS as in ComodoFW or OnlineArmorFW or mum&dad configurations) and is still very, very free. I recommend it. :)
Version 4.1 is for XP & Vista 32-bit only. Download link
    Cheers.

The 64-bit version is (finally) in beta. Those interested in testing/using it, can ask here.

Thanks for the heads-up. I believe ThreatFire will automatically update itself if I turn on the community protection?

IBO, I also don't trust Symantec after a bad experience with Norton years ago, but I believe ThreatFire is a great program and I've continue to use it since my first install of ThreatFire.

Symantec has acquired PC Tools last year. link.
While being a part of ' Symantec's consumer business unit', they get to keep developing and selling their 'own' products.
