Hello, I am trying to switch my AV from Avast to AVG on my laptop and I uninstalled Avast and when I tried to install AVG, I get this error:

    'Some installation files are corrupt.
Please download a fresh copy and retry installation'

I click ok then I get shown

    'Extracting License_us.txt
    Extracting avgsetup.exe
    Extracting sporder.dll
    Extracting afuin64.dat
    Extracting files.dat
    CRC failed in files.dat
    Unexpected end of archive

    Close/Cancel

I tried to download AVG 7.5 three times now and still encounter the same problem. What should do I? Just go back to Avast?

Instead of using either. You should try Avira Antivir, it's the most powerful and lightest free AV.

Make that three of us. I've used the others, and done plenty of research, after which I've concluded that Avira is the best of these.

As far as i know, Avira Antivir works in SP1 perfectly fine, though i switched to NOD32 shortly after. It would be safe to go ahead and install it as a system restore point is made before installation.

Where have you been downloading from? Maybe the file from that website is corrupted. Try downloading from download.com. I'd just use Avira, though I heard avast's active protection is the best for free anti-virus software.
