This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    It's not an either or scenario. I use both (as well as MBAM) and I've been well-protected. I let SpywareBlaster run silently in the background as a preventive measure and I use SAS and MBAM as on-demand scanners. Those three plus Avira Free have kept me safe and sound for a long time.

    True - I also used to combine SpywareBlaster with other malware/spyware apps, but after many proven years that SpywareBlaster alone is enough, I removed other apps.

    Saying that, this scenario works for our comps in the family. It might not work for others.

    To be honest, I think Windows Defender is probably one of the most adept anti-spyware programs out there. It receives almost daily updates from Microsoft and seems like a good, free solution included with Windows.
