If you're looking for an anti-virus, there are several good (and completely free!) programs. I recommend avast!, which is free for home/personal use. It keeps itself up to date, doesn't sap CPU or RAM power, and is generally regarded as one of the best free programs out there.

AVG is another good one. I used to use it before I got avast! but I found to be a bit too bulky. It's still good at what it does, though, and it's free.

Avira is also held in very high regard as a free anti-virus. I've never used it, but I've never heard anything bad about it either. Check out our Windows OS forum and the security software subforum. I'm sure you'll find some useful things there. ;)

Here, this is thread you need to be checking out:
    The best free security software

    Version 9: http://download.cnet.com/Avira-AntiVir-Personal-Free-Antivirus/3000-2239_4-10322935.html

And, I would personally suggest you go with Avira AV...that is a FTW, for me and for many on the forum :D Alas, that is always = personal choice.

Avira is a very easy, and fluid program to use, works very easy in the *background* per se :D And, Version 9 just came out..so if your interested..you may want to think about trying it out! :D

    Cin ;) :)

I've been using Avast for nearly 4 years now and have not had any problems.

I also useAdBlock Plus and No Script Firefox extensions.
