So sub is up and I needa get AV again.

I have always used nod32 and like it.
But should I get it again? Also is getting the whole security suite worth it or should I just stick with just Nod32 AV for 39.99 for a year.

    Thanks.

i use the ZoneAlarm security suite.

it uses Kapersky AV engine, which im told is (one of, if not) the best.

the zonealarm firewall is also known to be (one of, if not) the best.

so i guess that makes up a great security suite.

they seems to be doing a good job.

there are other ways to get free Antivirus or Firewall though.

i dont like norton or mcafee to this days. used to use em but they caused plenty of headache for me.

Well, the question is, do you require the Security Suite of Eset? I found the firewall to be lackluster compared to other firewall solutions. Eset is great with detection and such but cleaning, not so much. There's always something that NOD32 can't clean/delete and it requires your manual deletion. I came across this problem back in early v2 release and now with v3, it hasn't been fixed. NOD32 just tells you to upload the sample so it'll updated in the next signature update, where it'll then either clean or delete.

If you're going to switch, then I suggest purchasing either Avira Antivir Premium or Kaspersky 2009 (v8 I believe). Both have excellent detection rates as good if not better than NOD32.
The new Kaspersky is very light-weight and very responsive compared to the old Kaspersky v7.

NOD uses kaspersky engine but FAR better. it is the best antivirus i've seen out there. But honestly don't be stupid and you can have any antivirus you want. it's not that hard to protect yourself.

I use NOD on my laptop because I can expense the cost and I love it. I use AVG free at home, and there is no difference. Real protection comes from the user.

    In one word: YES :D

NOD is the best antivirus for experienced users because of the availibility of an advance intereface and it great for gamerz as it don't use a lot of resources.

Allow me to repeat the key word here - "YES".

NOD32 is what I use on all my machines. I have used many different antivirus softwares and it has proved to be the best. It is no-maintenance (you literally never touch it - it does everything including updates itself), takes up no CPU, and a miniscule amount of RAM. I just bought the new Smart Security suite, which does antivirus in addition to a personal firewall and antispyware.
I've been using NOD32 for over two years and have yet to have a problem.

Yes it costs money, but you get what you pay for.

Is NOD 32, 64-Bit compatible ? Last I tried it, was when Vista was new and it didn't work on 64-Bit Vista.

    Yes:
Operating Systems: Microsoft Windows 2000, Microsoft Windows XP (32 and 64-bit editions), Microsoft Windows Vista (32 and 64-bit editions)

    I use it on Vista 32-bit, XP32, and XP64 (Server 2003).

They still sell antivirus versions that work on Windows 95 - 98 as well.

Best firewall is Outpost Pro (my extensively researched opinion... and believe me, I'm extremely paranoid with my firewall use).

Best virus protection? I've researched for a few years and still cannot give you an answer.

Agreed (from personal experience). But I could never even as yet come to a conclusion about which AV I want to settle down with (damn, it's like they're girls!) :p :D

I had NOD32 and thought it was great. After 5 years I got tired of paying for an AV and downloaded Avira free. It also works great. Combined with SuperAntiSpyware and Comodo FP, I think I'm covered.

A 64-bit OS, not even a SINGLE pirated/cracked software, NOD32 (64-bit), Windows Defender (running in the background, with MS SpyNet advanced membership ON), Comodo x64 firewall (though I haven't used it, or any firewall till now), Opera web browser, and A-squared, Spybot S&D and Super AntiSpyware installed to scan the notebook once a month, and sound knowledge of computers. Now that's a safe system. (Mine.)

For the kind of reputation NOD32 has, my advice would be to renew your subscription. NOD32 is consistently ranked as the #1 or #2 antivirus out there. They're always mentioned with Kaspersky. They're the two big dawgs in the game right now.

Nope! Only NOD32 and Windows Defender run in the background.

A-Squared, Super AntiSpyware and SpyBot S&D are used only when I scan in Safe Mode once a month.

I haven't installed Comodo Firewall (like I said), but I don't think it'll take any performance off my notebook.

Well...you can't have 2 real-time antivirus programs on at the same time without running into serious problems, but you can have 2 girls at the same time without too many complications (for a while anyway)....

I use bitdefender, cheaper then NOD32 when running lots of computers.

it's not a memory hog either and like NOD32 it does everything by itself plus it add features you may use or not.
