I've had it. I always used to recommend avast as an antivirus, but after today, neither me or any of my customers are going to touch it again.

So to begin with, the registration expired. So I go to reregister it, and it just brings up a 403 forbidden page when it tries to connect. Okay, fine, I'll just uninstall it.

The most ambiguous error message yet, "There was an error during product uninstallation." shows up. Okay, fine, something must be broken, I'll reinstall and then uninstall. Oh ho ho, nice try buddy, can't do that either. So I go to delete the program files manually.

What's this? I need permission from administrators to delete this folder? Oh that's fair enough, I'll just go find one theOH WAIT I AM A FU45[;.4]5P ADMISTRATOR.

Alright, then, lets all just calm down. I'll go to the avast website, hop on the forums, and surely they will be able to help me. Gotta register at the forums, fair enough, activation email and all that, click this link here and whut? An error has occured! Your account has already been activated.

Okay fine, I'll just log in. Oh, an error has occured again! You must wait 20 seconds before logging in again! Alright, I needed a coffee anyway-mmm, that was refreshing, now lets log in here and...Error! You must wait 20 seconds before logging in again! Seriously? I'm no theoretical mathematician, but I'm pretty sure that 5min>20sec.

Alright fine, there was obviously some problem, I'll just make another account with another email address and aw hell...Sorry, but you're not allowed to register multiple accounts at the same time from the same computer (chump!).

Did they just fire that one guy who de-bugged their stuff? Or did he die of overwork?

    I give up.

Or are you quitting because, just maybe, the problem was 100% on your end with a combination of an expired registration, messed up deinstall info (possibly caused by running a 'cleaner') and network problems.

Better to understand the cause of problems than to toss the auto-blame on everyone else........

I really really hate the "seriously seriously" crap.
Yes. Seriously. Get over it. Ok? lolz.

Use MSE if you want something free. Or Avira. Or get yourself a 90-day Norton trial.
    Simple man.

I quit Avast after they started tagging necessary operating system files for deletion randomly for no reason.

Try AVG antivirus it is good and free. I never tried Avast but I heard it can cause PC problems.

I'll probably switch to MSE soon. I used to love avast but it seems kind of pointless lately.

Avast has been horrible for a while. AVG is not bad but they had their share of problems, remember last year when one of their updates caused a ton of people to get BSOD's?

Seriously, just pony up $30 for anti-virus, seriously lol

It may be free but it's not very good. If you want an effective AV that's also free go with Avira or MSE, not AVG.
