I have an Alienware m17x (specs below) on its way and am wondering what security software i should use to protect it. I have never bought such a high-end computer before and know some security apps slow down game performance. Any recommendations would be appreciated, thanks!

If you want professional security that doesn't slow you down, get NOD32 and Comodo Firewall Pro. That will fill all your needs and be very light on your system. If you want to go down the free route then you should get Avira Antivir with Comodo Firewall Pro. Just to let you know, even though Comodo Firewall Pro is free, it's one of the best, if the the best firewall utility available.

imo i can not recc kis 2009 highly enough. it blows away the version7 and i was a nod user for YEARS... and imo nod has fallen from where they once were. nod missed a number of things avira and kaspersky both found that turned out not to be false positives.....and the new kis 2009 is as light if not lighter than avira suite is.. some people are doubting this but i can honestly say my systems have never ran this good even with nod or avira.. ive owned both and just about every other av out there..
