Has anybody here tried using Securspot 2.0 firmware for their Dlink 655, 628 or 625 router, if not a little more about it if you dont know, this firmware is also antivirus, spam, pop up and the other usual stuff a secuity suit would have, this concept is interesting and it makes sense, Im thinking this just maybe the future for AV security suites to be placed in routers, the firmware installs a thin client into your PC (Mac not yet), my only gripe would be is the AV is Mcaffe, apperantly this system does not slow anything down (Im yet to see some kind of review), but like I say the concept is interesting and I would be interested in something like this.

My current DLink router isn't listed so I'd have to go out and buy a new router. But the idea is very interesting especially if it actually turns out to be effective with no resource hit.

ATC: After looking at the specs of some of the listed routers, I have a hunch the Dlink 855, 825 and DGL-4500 will be the next to enable Securespot, Im sure Linksys, Netgear and the others will getting into this eventually, this concept is great providing you dont do any traveling with your laptop using other hotspots, Im sure this will be addressed with some kind of dormant security suite that can be turned on when traveling, its obvious Dlink took this idea from commercial firewall and av boxes and decided to place the technology into home routers, it seems like security suite software makers will bloat their software to the point of almost unusable then when they lose customers, they will decide to re-write their software from bottom up like Norton did, I have a Dlink 825, and if Securespot is introduced to my router, I will try the 30 day free trial and hit all the major virus and malware sites and give Securespot a good crap kicking and see for myself if its worth it.

I have an older DLink router (WBR-2310), I doubt DLink will support this one.

I'd love to hear how it goes for you. The idea sounds promising and if it turns out to be an effective solution then I'd for sure get one of the newer supported routers for this. :)

Securespot 2.0 is and excellent service. Easy to set up and configure. The weakness is getting support from DLink. Their support service is servely lacking - the good new is that if you contact Bsecure - they know this product and will help you out. Love d-link products - their support can be iffy.
