And welcome MS securityprogram codenamed Morro.
A good thing that MS will offer it for free.
So it's going to have the antimalware engine from Windows LiveCare, it will be a separate download, it can be run in conjunction with Windows Defender, it will have a low footprint for less powerfull PC's/netbooks and suitable for low-bandwidth scenarios and fit for XP, Vista and Win7.
I'm interested. Thanks for the heads up.

This is good news for the consumers, bad news for Norton, NOD32, and many others.

A good move from MS and will give them better control of their product. OS X is at the point where they need AV software and will go through pains that MS did for years of having bulky AV software. This will give them a total edge.

I meant to post this the other day when I read it.

I think it's great, and since it is a free download rather than bundled, there shouldn't be much in the line of antitrust complaints.

I'm impressed with how stripped down (probably not the best wording) MS is making Win7. It really is an operating system for running programs instead of a collection of programs used as marketing pawns.

The big thing here is that for once, most people will be able to get a free AV program. I know that a number of people who I have worked on their computers have had no idea that there was any type of free antivirus, and those who did, didn't trust them.
