Hey guys, a friend of mine installed the free version of Roboscan last week because his PC is kind of old and Roboscan is lightweight and doesn't cause any slowdown at all. Well I told him that the site and program hasn't been updated since 2013. One site says 2014 but the homepage says 2013. Anyway, he told me that the program may be outdated but the virus definitions are still updating. The last update was 9/3/15, that was the last time we talked. Is it still safe to use this program that is outdated as long as the definitions are still being updated ? It uses its own Tera engine and Bitdefender engine. Thanks .

I wouldn't know since my knowledge of Roboscan is non-existent.
Your friend could try installing and running Panda Free antivirus... or Avast Free.
Next to that, he can also install an on-demand scanner called Malwarebytes (free version).
MBAM is pretty good for malware and you can run it yourself.
Panda Free and/or Avast would be a good option.

Bitdefender is supposed to be one of the best AV's... so if Roboscan uses the engine in question, it might be quite accurate.
Still, personally, I'm using MSE... its been pretty good (no better or worse than other solutions).
