Computers in our network have been infected 3 times by this virus.

We have been able to remove it, but it is a hassle.
We are running Microsoft Security Essentials on all our computers.
Are there any settings that can be changed on MSE to prevent this virus from infecting our computers?

I thought I got rid of this virus, but apparently not. I ran Malwarebytes like this site recommends, but the av.exe file keeps popping up when I open IE8 and other programs.
Malwarebytes says my computer is clean.

The two other times I ran Malwarebytes to kill this virus, it worked. The only thing I did different this time is I tried running an MSE scan. I think that somehow screwed up the Malwarebytes scan.

I even tried to remove it manually, but none of the files are there.

Hi Sir. I highly suggest you format your HDD and reinstall windows. Remember to get Windows 7 on your new installation, because it is very fast. Good luck!

Before installing any anti-spyware tool (including Malwarebytes Antimalware), make sure you fix bad Windows Registry values by downloading ExeRepair.reg file and running it ( XP Antispyware 2010).
Follow the instructions until you are offered to download Spyware Doctor and then download Malwarebytes Antimalware instead.

uninstall malwarebytes. remove any leftover folder etc

now rename the installer exe to mxxx.exe

re run the installation, after install is done go and rename the malwarebytes exe to mxxx.exe. start the program AND UPDATE IT.

reboot, turn OFF MSE re run the scan now.

see what it finds. now install ccleaner if you didnt already. open it and check the startup items. look for the av.exe on startup. if it is there remove it. and reboot
