    Hey guys,

I am currently using NIS 2010 and have over a week of subscription left. I am seriously considering purchasing a new 3-user license key for NIS, but am wondering whether it is worth it to upgrade to NIS 2011. In other words, what new features and additional functions does the new version have over the 2010 version. Also, what features from 2010 were taken away (if any)?

I was really considering trying out a new AV software (probably Eset), but have been a loyal Symantec user for the past years and their products have served me well.

However, I do remember encountering some issues when upgrading from NIS 2009 to 2010. I remember just installing NIS 2010 straight from the file, without using the Norton Removal Tool and other file-trace removal software. I remember NIS 2010 slowing my system down and hogging some resources in the first few days I installed it, so I removed it and rolled back to NIS 2009. However, I spoke to a Symantec rep who told me to use the Norton Removal Tool and run it for around 5-7 times, then install it again from scratch.

I did just like he said, then wiped my system clean from NIS 2009 files. After that, I did a fresh install of NIS 2010 and my system retained its snappy performance.

If I do decide to upgrade to NIS 2011, should I run the Norton Removal Tool again and wipe my system clean from NIS 2010? Or does the new installer package for 2011 address that issue?

    Thanks for any replies...

When I was using Norton Internet Security (2006-2010), I never really experienced any issues upgrading to the newest version. I stopped using NIS because I switched to MSE (money reasons), though I will still always recommend NIS to those willing to pay for it.
