I downloaded Spyware Blaster (the free version, is there even a paid version?) onto my laptop when I first got it because people here recommended it... From my understanding it is supposed to stop spyware before it even enters your system... So, if it catches spyware, does something pop up telling you so, or does the program simply quitely stop the spyware?

I think it stops spyware silently.

EDIT: Googled it. Got this. Simple explanation on how it works.

Yep. It does everything in the background without requiring your attention. The "paid" version is for the automatic update if you choose not to perform the update every 2 weeks or so yourself to get the latest database definition.

    cheers ...
