Ok, so I have pc tools and registry mechanic with about 7 months left on each. I have an offer for Norton internet security 2011 for $$21. I've heard that the new version will not slow my system down to a crawl. I received the offer for Norton internet security 2011 because I used to use Norton a few years ago. Is it worth it to switch?

After reading this I am not overly impressed with a $21 price for 'last years' version. If you have a high end computer with a decent amount of ram I think the performance will be fine though. -

I'm pretty sure if you have a valid Norton license with more than 90 (or maybe it's 120) days left, you get a free upgrade to 2012.

I've got NIS 2011 and it runs pretty seamlessly in the background and hasn't been a resource hog either. $21 isn't a bad price, but every once in a great while there will be rebate offers that make it so you can can get it for free. NIS has come a long way since "the bad ol' days".
...and I think as long as the 2011 subscription is still valid it'll allow a free upgrade to 2012. Could be wrong though. edit - IIRC, I got 2011 during the auto-renew process at the end of my subscription and it gave me the option to upgrade to 2011 for free. -

You still have 7 months' subscription for your current security product. I'd be a waste of money if you stopped using it. Use it up, then switch to Norton. I like Norton a lot and rate it higher in my security reviews. It has a nicer interface, less of a performance impact, and is more proactive.

Tried it. Went back to MSE
This coming from an NIS 2010/2011 user. -
I've heard very good things about the latest Norton.
Not my type of program but people seem to like it. -
