    Hi DarkSilver,

This is Mike from the Norton Authorized Support Team.

Norton Internet Security 2007 is not fully compatible with Windows Vista. As long as you have a valid subscription to Norton Internet Security, you are entitled to a free update to the 2009 version, which is compatible with Windows Vista and is also very light on system resources. The 2009 version of Norton Internet Security installs in about 1-2 minutes and contains many new and enhanced features to keep your computer protected against the latest threats. Please NOTE, while this process will update you to the latest version of Norton Internet Security, it will not extend your subscription.

To update, please visit the Norton Update Center at the link below.

    Norton Update Center

Once the updated version has been installed, launch Norton Internet Security 2009 and manually run LiveUpdate to ensure that you have the latest program and definition files applied to your installation. Restart your computer after the updates have been installed.

Running LiveUpdate will also invoke the new "Pulse Updates" feature, which will automatically check for and install definition updates every 5-15 minutes in the background, so that you are always protected against the latest threats.

    Thank you,
    Mike

if you have nis2007 you can use the lic to upgrade to nis2009 for free.

nis2009 is not at all a resource hog. its WAY WAY WAY better than mcafee imo. i would not use mcafee if it was given to me. others feel different.

why do you want to run nis2007 when 2009 is out??

It might be a combination of things that make it "seem" that way to me, however, there have been times in the past where Live Updates would not install/work properly until I enabled automatic program learning in the configure firewall settings. I really do think that Norton does block itself sometimes.

(Edit: I do keep automatic live updates off)
