I currently have Norton 360 on my HP laptop and recently ordered new laptop. When it comes in, I want to be able to transfer my Norton 360 with all it's settings and my saved passwords onto the new computer. Then basically reinstall the 360 on this computer like it is a second computer. So that it doesn't have my passwords and stuff on this computer and they will be on the new computer. I have been all over the Norton site and I cannot find the answer. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

I do not believe there is an option to do that in Norton 360. I'm not 100% sure but I just look through a copy of it myself and could not find any sort of back up feature. I believe your just going to have to reinstall it and start from scratch.

Crap that's terrible. I guess I'm gonna have to get some paper out and write down all the websites and the usernames/passwords for everything and just go site to site putting the info and then re-saving it all. That is really going to be a big pain.

THIS LOOKS LIKE A PAIN BUT SOME PEOPLE MIGHT BE IN THE SAME BOAT SO I WILL LEAVE THE INFO HERE. THE NEXT POST BELOW IS THE SIMPLE WAY TO DO IT IF YOUR SYSTEM IS CURRENTLY WORKING AND YOU WANT TO TRANSFER YOUR IDENTITY SAFE PROFILE TO THE NEW COMPUTER.

It looks like you can. I don't know what all of the jargon means though if someone could help me out a bit I would def appreciate it.

    1. Open your VHD file, and go to the C:\ProgramData\Norton\{various_numbers}\NIS-version\IdentitySafeDataStore\various numbers\ (on XP it is in C:\doc and set\all users\application data\Norton...)

    2. From this folder extract IDDStore.dat and IDDStore_bak.dat to the new HDD

    3. Close the VHD file

    4. Open your Norton product, and go to Settings

    5. Create new Identity Safe profile

    6. Log ogg from IS

    7. Under Settings ->Miscellaneous settings find Norton Product's Tamper Protection on the list, and turn off

    8. Set the time duration to 15 minutes

    9. Open the same folder as above in the new HDD and overwrite the files in it with the ones you had on the VHD

    10. Turn Tamper protection back

    11. Log into Identity Safe

    12. Test logins

    13. Do a backup of the Identity Safe data

I just got off of Norton chat. This is what I got. It's so simple. I can't believe I didn't notice this before. I scoured the program and the website and different forums all day to get an answer to this question.

YOU MUST BE LOGGED IN TO IDENTITY SAFE TO DO THIS. I did not know what the chat person was talking about because I didn't see that I could do it at first because I was not logged in.

Click on settings and click on Identity protection.
There will be an option as backup Identity safe data. Click on configure next to it.
You will be getting the option to backup the identity safe information and store it in a different location.
Then copy the file and put it in the new computer.
In the same settings , there will be another option to restore Identity safe data. Use that data to back up file in the new computer.
Copy the file to the new computer then download 360 go into the identity safe and create a new profile click on settings, click on back up identity safe and search for the file wherever you saved it to, then back up the new identity safe (I PUT THIS FILE IN MY USER FOLDER SO I CAN EASILY FIND IT AFTER FILES ARE TRANSFERRED)

I then asked about erasing the identity safe profile off of the old computer because I will be giving this computer to my gf. The response was...

Once you enter the identity safe password wrong three times, it will erase all the contents of the identity safe.

Oh this is just great, thanks for teaching on how to transfer the whole file to another computer. I thought I would be purchasing another anti-virus again, thanks for posting, it saved me some.
