I just noticed that Grisoft came out with an updated version of AVG 8.
Finally, it fixes the annoying exclamation mark on the taskbar if you have Link Scanner or other components disabled.
All you have to do is, right click on the component in the AVG User Interface, and click Ignore Component State.
Also, Grisoft promised to fix the initial release, where you had to use a commandline parameter to not install Link Scanner.
The latest version, 8.0.135, was released July 1.
Linky.

Does it fix all the false positives? That was the straw that broke the camel's back and had me switching...

That I honestly don't know. I just got the new version via online update, not a fresh install.

Finally...I'm not sure if I should switch back or not. This was so annoying I switched to Avira. :/
Thanks for the update, talin.
New version of AVG released, annoying issues fixed.
