    New Version of Malware Bytes!

I think this is the old changelog, because it just updated. Will post the new one when I see it.

    * (FIXED) Issues detecting certain types of malware.
    * (FIXED) Miscellaneous problems with heuristics.
    * (ADDED) Better detection for the Vundo infection.
    * (ADDED) Support for Latvian and Croatian languages.

    Enjoy :D

Or if you already have it, just press update in MBAM.

Great go to software. I admit I do not normally install it, but when something nasty strikes, this is a great piece to have. Thanks for the update.

I guess I shouldn't have updated. Now the scan freezes about 2 minutes in everytime I try it and I have to shut it down in task manager. It worked fine before. I guess I'll have to uninstall and try it again.

I tried it again, it froze and I couldn't shut it down with task manger. I had to pull the plug to turn off the computer. I just uninstalled it. I am debating on whether to try and install it again. I never had a problem until I did this update. Any ideas?

That's weird. I updated and did a quick scan with no problem. Did you do a full or quick scan?

    Thanks for the info! :)

I never found anything using MBAM and SAS on my notebook. Not even a tracking cookie. Is this normal because I'm a safe user or there's something wrong? :D

I tried a quick scan. I booted into safe mode and I was able to do a scan, nothing was found. I haven't tried it again in normal mode. I will later when I have the time to mess with it. Thanks for the reply, and any ideas will be appreciated.

Just a note with the latest update. On my XP machine, it added a startup entry, so if you want to delete it go ahead. However, on my Vista, I didn't get a startup entry. Check anyways.

I haven't noticed one on XP 32 bit. What's the service called?

It wasn't a service. Just a start up entry. I disabled and deleted it already.

It still freezes when I try to do a scan. It works fine in safe mode. Any ideas why? Or suggestions for a suitable replacement? Thanks.

Yeah, SAS is a better replacement but MBAM is the best secondary scanner. Try re-installing it?

I tried re-installing it, but the same thing happens. It worked fine until I updated to the new version. The only other change to my computer was adding SpywareBlaster. Is it possible that SB is causing the problem? I don't see how because it doesn't even run.

I use SAS as an on demand scanner too, but I think MB was better.

Spyware Blaster should not cause any problems.

What can I do to try to get it to work? The only thing different from when it worked fine was adding SpywareBlaster and updating MB. It freezes on a Windows/Installer/xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.msi. The number is not the same each time but it is always an Installer file with that suffix.

I can assure you it's not Spyware Blaster. I also have Spyware Blaster, fully updated, and MBAM scans fine.

It has to be something on my computer since no one else is having the problem. It is disappointing since I had no trouble prior to the update.

Maybe you should try uninstalling SpywareBlaster.

What OS are you using, is it patched? AV, etc. Best probably asking at MBAM.

I did the definitions update last night and ran the quick scan with no problem, so it appears to be working again. Oh well. Now if only someone would help me do a dual boot system so I could give Windows 7 a try on my 5 year old XP machine and still use XP as needed......
