Does MalwareBytes have explorer integration scanning (ie can I right click on a file and select "Scan with MalwareBytes")?

Doing a scan last night....and also had random freezing.

Maybe it does not like XP much anymore?

    Cheers,
    Theo

I had it freeze up and it took 5 minutes to shut it down in task manager. I was able to complete one scan out of 4 tries and even then it hung up a few times. I never had any problems until version 1.32. Weird.

Update, not that anyone cares, but if I disable Norton AV, MB completes scan without freezing. Do you guys disable your av before scanning or is it just a quirk in my system?

No, I don't have to disable AV.
NIS2009 doesn't conflict with MBAM on an XP 32-bit setup and MBAM doesn't conflict with Avira Free version on a Vista 32-bit setup.

No AV should interfere with MBAM.

MBAM freezes on a file with an msi extension, not the same one everytime, but the same time of installer file. If I disable my Norton AV, it works fine. I am also using XP 32 bit.

Have you contacted MBAM about this?
If I remember well, it wasn't the only issue you had with it right?

The other problem I had was related to the freeze ups. It would freeze and then I had a hard time to exit MBAM. A few times I couldn't shut it down in task manager, I literally had to pull the plug. And even when task mangager worked, it took several minutes to shut it down. And this never happened until I updated to 1.32. Also, it works fine in safe mode. It has to be something with my system. I am ready to put in a new hdd and reinstall XP. I am over 5 years on the original install. I have recovery disks, not the XP disk. Hopefully it goes well. Any tips? I have a thread about this in the Windows fourm.

On a dutch forum I've read about a user having trouble with MBAM, scanning MSI files.
(There the conclusion was that it's not a MBAM driver problem but a definition problem. Not sure if that's the case though).
If you download MBAM v. 1.32 and you don't update before scanning, do you still have the problem?
An MBAM uninstaller can be found here. (nb. direct download link)

About a clean install, my setups usually lasts only 1/5-1/10 of your original install ;).
About the recovery disks and not having a 'full' XP disk, have you come across this or this page?
    Cheers.

I'm back, new hdd drive and Windows intalled from recovery cd. I still have a lot of work to get everything installed again. Is it possible to defrag and have 0 excess fragements? I ran defrag after doing the updates etc and I have one fragmented file with 5 excess fragments. Is it possible to get this to 0?

Probably nothing. I was replying to Baserk as I was having problems with my system. He has been extremely helpful to me. Sorry if I asked a question that doesn't belong here. Since he was replying in this thread, I thought that I would ask for his help. Now I will be able to download MB again and see if it works. I'll report back.

I installed MB and I had no problem with my first scan. Perhaps my old install was corrupt in some way? Anyway it works now. I'll test it again after I finish dowloading everything else that I need.
