    COMODO Firewall is pretty much the best and it's free.

    AVG is a weak AV and Avast uses a lot of resources. I would recommend you the best, Avira Antivir, along with the previously mentioned Comodo Firewall Pro.

    My recommendation:
    Avira AntiVir for antivirus
    SpywareTerminator for anti-spyware (real time protection)
    Comodo Firewall

    I suggest you do the same before posting. Members with under 100 posts can't search the forums now because of server stress.
    Glad to hear that. :)

    I was suggesting you search the forums before posting "search the forums", or any other post without thought.

    I'm sure the poster would search but at this time the servers can't handle everyone searching so only people with 100+ posts can search. The poster obviously can't, and if you had searched yourself as you have sufficient enough posts you would have known that.

    Here's the 'funny' part of Spyware Terminator;
    The scanner works on 32-bit and 64-bit but the real-time protection works only on 32-bit! Link.
    Cheers.

    I really don't get the continued "Avast uses too many resources" comments. Mine says about 20mb right now - big whoop - as I have 3gbs of memory. Anyway - Avast 4.8 is a great program, IMO and the resources are really not a big deal unless you have a 3+ year old pc. It also handles outgoing email mail scanning (works very well with Outlook) which I believe Avira still does not do.

    Avira has higher malware detection rate though. It still scans files when open/save them from Outlook. So there is no way of getting infected from the attachments.

    I like avg because you have little idea it is there. I admit it does miss things however it does a very good job. Choices depend on someones on line behavior, and how much experience they have. If your visiting adult sites, and downloading files from unknown sources, then maybe sandiebox would be a good choice. I did notice that programs that run in the back ground put a drag on computer speed, and my lap top is less than a year old.
