A quick look at the Symantec user forums show multiple NIS user are infected with Trojan.Patchep!sys. I am currently using NIS 2012 and have not noticed any problems yet. I was just curious as to why a 'Google Search' of "Trojan.Patchep!sys" ONLY shows Symantec (NIS) user entries and not other AV providers.

Probably just because this is the name that Symantec has given to this Trojan/specific file.
AV vendors often give their own name to a malware sample, so it might seem that Norton AV/NIS users are the only ones in the world being infected when you google the malware sample name but that's not the case.
Other AV users might come across the same file, it's just detected under a different name. Nothing to worry about.
