I have a question about Mcafee. Whats up with them? are they going out of business or something? I recall Comcast throwing them to the curve and went with norton. Can anyone inform me of the current state of mcafee for me?

    Thanks.

They should have died in the water the instant they blacklisted svchost.exe back in the winxp days. I can understand a false positive... but you have to be an idiot to let that happen.

McAfee's not going anywhere anytime soon, Intel bought them a while ago. They're trying to change their image of being bloated but I haven't used any of their products since McAfee Security Center 06 turned into a mess when they upgraded to the next version up. The difference in performance was night and day.

Also, a ton of McAfee's business is the enterprise market. It's true that the svchost.exe fiasco really screwed with their image, but even at my company (services >3000 computers), the problem was forgotten after McAfee offered us a free year of licenses.

I'm curious to see what Intel will do with them. I'm really hoping they wont overly integrate McAfee software into Intel hardware. As long as the implementation is open, I'll be ok, but I do not want to be forced to buy McAfee.

That's one of many. The performance improvement I've seen after uninstalling mcaffee on old computers is amazing.
