At GiveAwayOfTheDay, Emsisoft is giving away, a free 1-year license for their behavioural blocker ' Mamutu'.

' Mamutu monitors all active programs for dangerous behavior in realtime and blocks malicious activities. It recognizes new and unknown Trojans, Backdoors, Keyloggers, Worms, Viruses, Spyware, Adware and Rootkits (Zero-Day attacks), without the need of daily signature updates.'

A behavioural blocker isn't a replacement for an AV. It should be used as an addition.
For those already running a HIPS, like Comodo's Defense+ or the one from Online Armor, Mamutu doesn't add much.

Details and download link at GOATD; link.

Thank you Baserk, I remember Mamutu giving away an additional one year license a few months ago. Will this not add to my security setup if I'm running Comodo Firewall and Defense+ or will it just interfere?

    It won't interfere with Defense+.

Giveaway of the Day - free licensed software daily. Mamutu 3.0 - Mamutu monitors all active programs for dangerous behavior in realtime and blocks malicious activities.

Baserk's on another forum. I must have forgotten that I had read his post here and not over there.

    All is forgiven :)
Do you have any optimal settings to share with us as to how you setup Mamutu for yourself? Any tips or advice?

*EDIT* Got your private message. Once you test Mamutu tonight, get back with us.

I didn't have a VM set up on this machine so I'm in just installing/ setting one up now. Going to have to update.

VM settings will be clean, UAC at default, fully patched with Windows update. No other programs installed. IE9 as the main browser.

First I'll be testing Comodo + Mamutu with my settings, which you can find here:
What is your security setup these days? - Page 663 - Wilders Security Forums

Then Mamutu on its own with the same settings - Comodo will be disabled and Windows 7's firewall will take over from that point.

I'll be testing random malware. The same ones for both tests.

EDIT: I'll update it in Baserk's topic.
EDIT2: I've decided to turn Paranoid Mode off. It's too noisy and as I won't be running with it I don't want to test with it.

Paranoid mode is more annoying and louder than Comodo. However, I rather have it alerting me than not alert me, I don't mind it.

Just got through part of the testing. I'll post a topic on the security forum where we can continue discussion of the results so far.
